Two-thirds of men in the United States show visible signs of hair loss by the age of 35, an age that most feel is far too young for the balding process to set in. While men have more hair loss problems, women are far from immune and make up 40% of hair loss sufferers in the US.
Whether male or female, if you’re tired of thinning hair causing you to look far older than your age, hair transplantation is a fantastic solution. Yet, not all hair transplantation treatments are the same.
Here at The Nikolov Center for Plastic Surgery, board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Nicholas Nikolov and our team take great pride in providing the most cutting-edge treatments available to help you meet your cosmetic goals. As part of this effort, we offer NeoGraft® hair transplantation technology.
In the following, we explore this innovative hair transplantation technique, which can help you make 2021 the year that goes back in time.
The Next Level Of Hair Transplantation
Hair transplantation isn’t a new technique for combating hair loss and has been in practice for years. This approach to hair loss is effective as we harvest healthy follicles from where you have the most hair (usually around the back of your head) and transplant them to areas that could use a little more coverage.
This type of autologous grafting means that the transplants are more readily accepted by your body and they integrate themselves nicely so that no one’s the wiser.
However, the problem is that the procedure could be painful as strips of your scalp were removed and placed in thinning areas.
With our innovative NeoGraft equipment, we harvest your hair using a technique called follicular unit extraction (FUE). With FUE, you no longer have to endure painful scalp stripping or scarring as the equipment neatly removes your follicles only.
The NeoGraft Hair Transplantation Timeline
When you come in for your NeoGraft FUE, we first apply a topical numbing agent for your comfort. Once you’re ready, we use the NeoGraft instrument to quickly extract hair follicles and transplant them into areas of thin courage.
Depending upon your goals and hair loss level, this treatment can last 4-6 hours or more.
After your treatment, you’re free to return home, but please don’t wash your scalp for at least 24 hours. You may notice small scabs forming, which is perfectly normal, and you should resist the urge to pick at them (they usually fall off after about two weeks).
During the three months following your procedure, the hair from the transplanted hair follicles will fall out, but don’t panic. Once this hair falls out, your follicles set up for regular hair growth cycles, and your new hair should come in after six months or so.
In other words, if you want to give yourself the gift of new hair for 2021, we urge you to start now so that you can greet the summer months with a new form of sun protection — your own hair.
